Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi was compelled to make an impromptu address today to a group of agitated KUPPET teachers who had gathered outside the entrance of the Vihiga County Governor’s Office.
Mudavadi was there for a courtesy call before attending a Diaspora jobs workshop in Vihiga, where he was scheduled to be the Chief Guest.
The KUPPET teachers, who have been on strike since Monday, barricaded the main entrance of the Governor’s Office, chanting slogans against the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and demanding that Prime CS Mudavadi address their concerns.
At the time, Mudavadi was holding a brief meeting with the County leadership before proceeding to the event.
Mudavadi acknowledged the teachers’ grievances, stating that their demands are serious and promising to raise the matter urgently at the Cabinet level. Meanwhile, the teachers have insisted that their strike will continue until the government meets their demands.
