Police in Kesses Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, have launched investigations into an incident where a 27-year-old man drowned while swimming in the company of his friends at a guest house.
Dennis Kimutai Kemboi, a boda boda rider in Eldoret CBD, drowned under unclear circumstances after checking in at Karen Guest House — located in Kipchamo area — in the company of 20 other young men on Tuesday, December 24 at around 1 pm.
According to 23-year-old Kevin Kipchumba, who is a cousin to the deceased, they enjoyed swimming until around 4 pm when they realised that Kimutai was inside the deeper end of the swimming pool waters after accidentally drowning.
According to a report filed at Sugunanga Police Station and seen by TV47 Digital, the men tried to rescue him but they didn’t make it due to the force of water.
“The deceased is from Kabenes village in Soy Sub-County, within Uasin Gishu County,” the report, filed by a receptionist at the facility.
The body which had no visible physical injuries was removed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret, awaiting postmortem.
