Oriwo Boys High School in Homa Bay on Monday, March 17 hosted the Huawei DigiTruck Graduation Ceremony, presided over by Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo.
The event marked the successful completion of digital skills training for 290 graduates,143 women and 147 men, who underwent an intensive six-week program under the Huawei DigiTruck initiative.
Since its inception in 2019, the program has trained over 6,030 youth across 36 counties, with Homa Bay being the latest beneficiary. The initiative aligns with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) by promoting digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and online safety.
The training has equipped youth with essential computer literacy, digital marketing, entrepreneurship, and cybersecurity skills, ensuring they are prepared for the evolving digital landscape.
As Chair of the National Computer and Cybercrime Coordination Committee (NC4), Dr. Omollo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding digital education and ensuring no one is left behind in Kenya’s digital transformation.
He called on local leaders, businesses, and stakeholders to support this initiative, emphasizing that investing in digital education builds stronger communities and a more prosperous nation.
