The Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Raymond Omollo, has issued a stern warning to leaders engaging in violence during public gatherings.
Speaking at a fundraising event at Sasi Primary School in Ndhiwa Sub-County, Omollo emphasized that the government will not tolerate political violence.
Omollo emphasized that Kenya is a democratic nation where everyone has the right to express themselves freely, without coercion or intimidation.
His sentiments were echoed by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who reiterated the need for peaceful leadership in the country.
The leaders also highlighted the country’s focus on supporting Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
For instance, Mbadi appreciated President William Ruto for endorsing Raila’s AUC chairmanship bid.
“I would like to thank the government of Kenya and President Ruto for putting forward the name of Raila Odinga to be the first Kenyan to head the AUC. It is my hope and prayer that when the elections are conducted in Ethiopia, Raila emerges as the winner to lead this continent,” said Mbadi.
In addition, the Treasury CS urged all Kenyans to pray for Raila to win the AUC chairmanship elections.
