The Public Service Commission (PSC) has denied appointing former news anchor Jacque Maribe to any government position.
In a statement seen by TV47 Digital, the appointing authority asserted they did not approve Maribe’s appointment as head of communication in the ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.
The docket is headed by Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, who previously served in the Trade ministry.
“Public Service Commission has not appointed former Royal Media journalist Jacque Maribe as head of communication in the ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management contrary to social media posts attributed to Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria,” read part of the statement.
Anthony Muchiri, Chair of PSC went on to say that he had not received any requests regarding her nomination for the said position.
Like all other government positions, Muchiri stated that a competitive recruitment process would be followed.
“For the record the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” he added.
CS Moses Kuria confirmed the rumours with a social media post over the weekend saying “it is true except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission”.
Maribe’s longtime friend Dennis Itumbi, who is a close aide of President William Ruto, went ahead to congratulate her for the new post.
“Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve Asante Moses Kuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand,” he wrote.
Jacque Maribe was acquitted in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani in February this year by High court judge Justice Grace Nzioka.
Her former fiancé Joseph Irungu alias Jowie was however convicted of the heinous murder and on Wednesday, March 13 handed a death sentence.
