Rachel Ruto forms prayer strategy team to pray for police officers heading to Haiti

First Lady Rachel Ruto has formed a prayer strategy team to pray for the 1000 police officers who are set to be deployed to gang-ridden Haiti.

Speaking at the Weston Hotel during the launch of the ‘Fourth Man’ EP by 1005 Songs & More, the First Lady said that she has already held discussions with members of the clergy about the impending deployment of Kenyan troops in the UN Security Council-backed mission to troubled Haiti.

While calling on Kenyans to pray for the troubled Carribean country, Rachel said that spiritual intervention was key in ensuring the safety and success of the Kenyan officers in Haiti.

“I have been held up in a meeting with some clergy friends of mine for two days discussing the issues of Haiti because we felt as the national alter that we cannot allow our police to go to Haiti without prayer So they have been strategising on a spiritual solution for our police and people of Haiti,” she said.

“We had pastors from Haiti and America and we are seeing how these three countries can come together to pray because we believe that with prayer everything is possible.”

The Kenyan government put on hold the deployment of the officers following the resignation of Haiti Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei said that the absence of political administration in Haiti meant there was no “anchor on which the deployment rest”.

The mission, early this month, obtained an injection of KSh8.2 billion from the Canadian government after consultations between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President William Ruto.

In a statement shared by the Canadian government, Trudeau and Ruto were both reportedly in favor of the formation of a transition council in Haiti that will lay the ground for fresh elections after Henry’s resignation.
