Veteran journalist Paul Ilado is Radio Africa Group’s new Editorial Director.
Ilado’s appointment was announced on Friday, October 4 by Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Martin Khafafa.
“Allow me to announce that Paul Ilado will be the Group Editorial Director,” Khafafa said during the farewell party of former Convergence Director William Pike. “This appointment was made in consultation with Pike.”
Ilado, who was serving as the Group Head of Content before his new appointment, has been with Radio Africa Group for more than two decades, having joined the media house as a reporter.
According to Khafafa, Ilado’s rise from a reporter to the Group’s Editorial Director proves his dedication and commitment to the success of the company.
Ilado has also served the company in political editor capacity previously.
On the other hand, Pike retires from Radio Africa after 24 years of work.
“This is a sad day for me because I have loved working with you since 2007 as we have built the Star into a well-recognised newspaper and the biggest news website in Kenya.”
An emotional Pike added: “But I will continue to see you as I will be in and out of the office since I remain a shareholder in Radio Africa. I also remain available to provide advice any time you think you might need it.”
