Former Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s chief agent in the 2022 general elections, Saitabao Ole Kanchory has revealed his longtime relationship with President William Ruto.
In a statement posted on his X account (formerly Twitter) on September 21, Kanchory noted that the president has been his friend since 2010.
“William Ruto gave me this way back in 2010. That’s how far back we come with the 5th,” Kanchory stated.
He also shared an image of President Ruto’s signature in his post on social media (X account).
Raila’s chief agent was echoing sentiments shared sentiments in April 2023 when he said that both Azimio leader Raila Odinga and President William Ruto are his personal friends.
He had earlier explained that he knew Ruto before he met Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
When Raila picked Kanchory to represent him at the national tallying centre at the Bomas of Kenya, he had no idea of his close ties with his Ruto.

For instance, the book that Kanchory wrote entitled, Why Baba Is Not The 5th, confirmed that he was Ruto’s informer in the Aimio camp.
Kanchory, who is a lawyer stated in the book that he was introduced to Ruto at a time when he was working as a political activist for the Maasai community.
According to him, a fellow lawyer Martine Ole Kamwaro took him to Ruto’s office at Jogoo House after he was impressed by his strong sentiments against the then draft constitution 2010.

“One fine morning, my kinsman and fellow lawyer Martin Ole Kamwaro – clearly impressed by my strong and highly structured sentiments against the then draft Constitution, 2010 took me to William Ruto’s office at Jogoo House, Nairobi,” Saitabao revealed.
Still, on the same, Raila Odinga’s chief agent had claimed that the Azimio presidential candidate lost the election due to internal wrangles within the party.
When he was interviewed by KTN News, at the time he was marketing his book, Kanchory claimed that Raila won the 2022 elections but was not interested in the presidency.

“He won, yes, but he gave it away. Presidential elections are there for those who are prepared to take it,” he said during the interview.
