Raila dares Jalang’o, Ojienda and Caroli Omondi to resign from ODM

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has dared expelled MPs to resign from the party.

ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) on September 6 expelled the MPs for defying party positions and gross misconduct.

The MPs include; Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Felix Odiwuor (Lang’ata), and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

Raila was speaking during a leaders’ engagement forum in Migori County where he described the rebel ODM MPs as traitors.

The ODM party leader noted that it was wrong for the ODM legislators to use the back door to meet President William Ruto in the pretense of looking for development.

“If you had sincere concerns to meet the president, you share the views openly for everyone to see and give advice,” Raila said.

“You have gone against the wishes of the people who elected you, you are traitors, and if you are a traitor, step aside,” he added.

He advised them to resign and seek a fresh mandate to return to parliament on a different party ticket.

“If you want to return to parliament, go back to the electorates and seek a fresh mandate on another party ticket,” he stated.

The Azimio leader emphasized that it is bad manners for anyone to openly defy his/her party leadership or any position taken by the party.

He said political parties are all in competition and there is no way one can claim to seek development favors from the ruling party.

Additionally, Raila noted that political parties can only grow in Kenya if those in power respect the ideologies, constitutions, and rules of other parties.

Mr. Odinga was in Migori County for engagements in Suna East and Suna West Constituencies where he visited the new residence of Suna West MP Peter Masara.

He also addressed a leaders’ meeting at Maranatha Church grounds and later addressed a public rally at the Migori bus park.
