“We know that he who does not accept defeat is not fit for competition”. This is according to Kenya’s African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson candidate Raila Odinga.
Speaking to a local radio station on Friday, December 27, Raila exuded confidence that he has conducted top-notch campaigns across Africa, enough to secure the top continental post.
“I have been to African countries, I have talked to many leaders and the majority have supported me. I am not done (talking to leaders). I expect when the elections come, we will win,” Raila told Radio Citizen. “If we win it is OK, if not it is fine. We know that he who does not accept defeat is not fit for competition.”
According to Raila, he will accept the election outcome and if it does not favour his camp, “I will still be a Kenyan and will do what Kenyans want.”
If elected, Raila has prioritise infrastructure improvement and free trade among African nations to catapult the continent to the next level.
Outgoing AUC Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat was in Kenya this week, where he met with President Ruto in Kilgoris, Narok County.
Ruto disclosed that they discussed, among other things, African Union reforms and the upcoming election of the AUC Chairperson.
