Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has said he will consult his ODM party before announcing his next political move.
Speaking on Monday February 24, 2025 at State House, Mombasa, after a meeting with President William Ruto, Raila said he will soon be meeting his supporters and friends for consultations before making a major announcement
“I am going to consult widely and in due course we are going to announce our way forward,” said Raila.
At the same time, Raila thanked the government of Kenya for supporting his campaign for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position.
He said that President Ruto supported his AUC bid both in words and actions.
“He put up the machinery to campaign for me,” he said.

In addition, the ODM party leader stated that his party was ready to work with others for national unity.
“We are available to help the continent of Africa, but most importantly we are also available for Kenya.
“I am back home, I am going to meet my friends, my supporters, and I am going to consult widely. In due course we are going to announce a way forward,” said Raila.
Meanwhile, Raila disputed claims that the government spent Ksh. 13 billion to fund his AUC campaign.
“The money that was spent was necessary to hire transport. We were not living luxuriously, we ate what we were given whenever we went.
“Many African countries were very generous; they gave us accommodation,” he said.
Also present during the meeting was deputy president Kithure Kindiki and National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichungwah.
