Azimio leader Raila Odinga has asserted that the ODM party has not yet entered into any coalition agreement with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
Despite the nomination of four ODM members to join President Ruto’s cabinet, Odinga emphasizes that the ODM party remains in opposition and is part of Azimio.
Odinga insists that the party will only consider engagement with the ruling party once their conditions, aligned with the demands of Generation Z, are met.
The former Prime Minister made these remarks during the burial of High Court Advocate Evans Oruenjo in the Alego/Usonga constituency.
He reiterated that any coalition agreement would only be considered after a national convention, contingent on the government compensating victims of police brutality and releasing those arrested during the anti-government protests.
Odinga was accompanied by Siaya Governor James Orengo, who also maintained that the ODM party would only join the Kenya Kwanza government through a structured engagement.
Orengo stressed the need for a scenario where their members are integrated into the government without facing unnecessary frustrations due to the lack of structural engagement.
Orengo emphasized that ODM seeks a formal relationship with any party that wishes to collaborate with them.
They were joined by Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili and Alego/Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, who praised Kenyan youths, known as Generation Z, for their role in advancing the liberation struggle.
