Comedian Fred Omondi’s burial in Siaya County is underway following his tragic death in a road accident.

Among the attendees were prominent celebrities like Awinja, 2mbili, YY, Amber Ray, and Kennedy Rapudo, who joined in mourning the loss of their colleague and friend.

Politicians including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Governor James Orengo of Siaya also paid their respects, underscoring Fred’s wide-reaching impact.

During the funeral, Raila Odinga made a striking entrance, arriving in a helicopter that momentarily paused the proceedings.

He approached Fred’s casket with reverence, removing his cap before leading mourners in a heartfelt song.

“Nikiitwa ntaitika, kutumikia waafrika. Kwenye vita vya moto, twapambana kama mashujaa,” Raila sang, his powerful voice resonating through the sombre atmosphere and bringing a moment of unity and reflection.

The presence of Fred’s loved ones, including Rose Achieng’, the mother of his two-year-old daughter Kyla Omondi, added a personal touch to the proceedings.

Rose, initially apprehensive about attending, was warmly embraced by Fred’s family.

She fondly recalled how she and Fred met at a wedding, their connection growing into a relationship that brought joy through their daughter Kyla.

Fred, deeply rooted in Luo customs, lovingly shaved Kyla’s hair himself, a cherished ritual that spoke to his devotion as a father.

The autopsy results, revealing Fred’s fatal injuries, further underscored the solemnity of the occasion, reminding everyone present of the suddenness and tragedy of his passing.
