“Raila really is his own enemy” Ngunjiri Wambugu warns him of consequences for ‘insulting’ US Ambassador

Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament (MP) Ngunjiri Wambugu has joined the list of leaders criticizing Azimio leader Raila Odinga for his scathing remarks against United States (US) Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman.

In a social media post on Friday, Wambugu said Odinga would face consequences for his derogatory statement against Whitman.

“Raila Odinga really is his own enemy. You can’t insult Meg Whitman and assume all will be well,” the former legislator opined.

He went on to tell the Azimio honcho that he should have “done his homework” before the public outburst.

“She (Whitman) doesn’t just speak for herself. Raila used to be a man who did his homework. Things must have changed.”

Odinga, speaking at the 8th Devolution Conference in Uasin Gishu County on Thursday, castigated the US Ambassador for what he termed as interfering with Kenya’s democracy.

“I want to tell the rogue ambassador, leave Kenyans alone… Tell the rogue ambassador, Kenya is neither the US nor is it a colony of the United States. Keep your mouth shut while you are here. Otherwise, we will call for your recall back to your country,” the former Prime Minister added.

Kenya Kwanza including President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, chided him, saying it was a show of disrespect towards such countries that have supported Kenya’s development.

“I found myself wondering, between those orchestrating demonstrations and causing property damage, and the ambassador who made the statement, who truly holds the label of ‘rogue’? I leave this question for Kenyans to contemplate,” the head of state added.
