Azimio leader Raila Odinga has launched a scathing critique against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his frequently controversial public statements.
During an interview with KTN News on Wednesday night, Raila characterized Gachagua as “an embarrassment” to the nation, especially considering his high-ranking position.
Raila expressed doubt regarding Gachagua’s moral suitability for the role of deputy president in any country, not just Kenya.
He stated, “So, Mr. Gachagua is not fit to be the deputy president of the nation of Kenya. It is a significant disgrace for someone like him to hold the office of deputy president in any nation, not just Kenya.”
Raila also called attention to Deputy President Gachagua’s remarks from February, in which he likened the government to a company with shareholders, implying that the administration would prioritize those who supported it while neglecting opposition supporters.
The former prime minister found such statements to be inappropriate for a presidential figure, particularly a deputy president.

He further criticized Gachagua, asserting that his words were divisive and had the potential to incite conflict within the nation.
Raila stated, “I have said that Mr. Gachagua is a person who does not deserve to be the deputy president of the nation because his speech is offensive; he utters words that could lead to unrest in the country.”
Raila also accused the Deputy President of showing bias towards his own region and neglecting other parts of the country, a practice that Raila believed could escalate into serious conflicts.
“He is said to be the deputy president of the nation of Kenya, but he acts as if he is the deputy president of Mount Kenya. Other regions of Kenya seem foreign to him,” the ODM boss added.
