‘Raila’s big announcement this week will be to support Ruto ahead of 2027’ -UDA leaders

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leaders from the North Rift region have expressed confidence that ODM leader Raila Odinga will back President William Ruto in 2027 General elections.

Speaking exclusively to TV47 in Pokot Central Sub-County, West Pokot County during a church service on Sunday March 2, 2025, the leaders pleaded with Raila to abandon his political ambitions and support president William Ruto.

Led by former West Pokot Governor Prof John Lonyangapuo, West Pokot senator Julius Murgor, Sigor MP Peter Lochakapong, Kapenguria’s Samuel Moroto and West Pokot Women representative Rael Kasiwai, the leaders said Raila will declare his support for Ruto’s reelection in 2027.

“We are happy that baba is working with President Ruto and he has shown interest that going forward through the broad based Government everyone will be accommodated in Ruto’s government.  Therefore we are kindly asking you, as you do your consultation, consider supporting President Ruto,” said Prof Lonyangapuo.

Sigor MP Peter Lochakapong on his part urged Raila to embrace political stability that is being witnessed in the country by supporting President Ruto and the entire Kenya Kwanza Government.

Meanwhile, West Pokot county member of Parliament Rael Aleutum Kasiwai applauded Raila’s courage in fighting for democracy not just in Kenya but the entire African continent.

Kasiwai said Raila will be useful in shaping the next general election by supporting President Ruto in fighting corruption, political conmanship, blackmail and political instability.

Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto on his part, wished Raila the best in his future plans of joining hands with President Ruto to deliver services to Kenyans.

Moroto also accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of being a blackmailer and causing political tension and instability in Kenya.

According to Moroto, Raila is the only man who can help Ruto deal with the rising resistance from Gachagua’s strongholds.

The remarks comes barely a week after Raila disclosed that he will be announcing his next move this week, saying his announcement will carry the interests of his supporters, vowing not to disappoint them.
