Relief to retirees as NSSF plans to pay pension dues in a day

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has revealed its plan to pay claims within 24 hours, placing its bet on technology and an agile workforce.

“We have been able to pay benefits in one day. For instance, last month (March), we reported to work on a Monday, picked up whatever claims that had come to our Hill Branch, and by 3pm we had paid seven of them. That tells you it is possible to pay benefits in one day,” NSSF chief executive and Managing Trustee David Koros said.

Koros added that NSSF will remain steadfast in upholding member integrity, innovation and collaboration.

“As the biggest retirement benefits scheme in Kenya and soon in the region, we want to assure you that we will remain steadfast in upholding member-centricity, integrity, innovation and collaboration to remain on an upward trend and to serve the purpose for which we exist.”  Koros stated

Its 60th anniversary marks a significant milestone as it has evolved into a leading state corporation delivering comprehensive social protection services.

Chairman of board of trustees David Njeru, stated NSSF priority prioritizes financial inclusion among women and youth.

”The Fund’s strategic agenda is not one of institutional growth — it is one of shared prosperity. On Behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am proud that our strategy prioritizes financial inclusion which is outlined in our intentional outreach to the informal economy, women, youth, and marginalized communities.” David stated.

NSSF 7th Annual General meeting was graced by Dr. Alfred Mutua, CS Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

The CS said that the government remains committed to reforms that align with social protection standards.
