Renowned sports journalist Nick Mudimba died on Sunday March 23, 2025 in the evening, after collapsing at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County.
His death was confirmed by his employer, CGTN.
Reports indicate that Mudimba, who formerly worked at KTN and Switch TV, was undergoing treatment after developing health complications, including high uric acid levels.
According to his family, he had been recovering steadily and even watched the Harambee Stars football match with the Gabon national team before he collapsed.
Mudimba was a renowned sports journalist who was passionate about football.
His body was taken to a morgue in Syokimau for post mortem analysis, as the family prepared for burial arrangements.
Meanwhile, his colleagues in the media industry shared their thoughts on social media, mourning the late Mudimba.
“Death, Why are you so cruel? Eternal rest grant unto Nick Mudimba oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen,” posed journalist Mashirima Kapombe.
“We were together cracking jokes at the AU Media Center in Addis Ababa. You assisted me install the latest Audio Sound Booth Recorder on my laptop. Rest in Peace my brother Nick Mudimba,” Seth Olale added.
“Nick Mudimba Devastated. Broken. Everyone’s loss,” Saddique Shaban posted.
“Gutted to learn about the death of my friend and counterpart Nick Mudimba. One of the kindest souls I ever met , and always ready for a good laugh. Rest in peace, bro,” added Ferdinand Omondi.
“RIP kaka Nick Mudimba, you were so full of life until your death this evening. Kweli haya maisha ni mafupi sana,” Lofty Matambo noted.
