Residents Flee in Fear as Armed Robbery Plagues Rongai

In a chilling account of terror, residents of Rongai’s Kandisi area are abandoning their homes, seeking refuge elsewhere as a wave of insecurity grips the neighborhood.

Among them is Florence Jerotich, whose ordeal has become emblematic of the community’s plight.

Last Sunday, Jerotich and her family fell victim to a brazen attack by four armed robbers.

Recounting her harrowing experience, she described how assailants ambushed her upon returning from a meeting, leaving her family traumatized.

“Arriving home around 3 pm, a man with a gun emerged, ordering me to comply,” Jerotich said, her voice trembling.

The ensuing moments were a blur as the armed intruders ransacked their home, seizing valuables and instilling fear.

Jerotich’s quick thinking and resourcefulness spared her family from further harm. Faced with demands for financial information, she cleverly deceived the robbers, preventing access to her accounts.

“I told them I had no ATM card, only to be slapped for my supposed deceit,” she recalled, her resolve unwavering.

As the assailants scoured for cash, Jerotich’s courage stood as a beacon of resistance.

Despite the imminent threat, she remained steadfast protecting her family and thwarting the robbers’ attempts to exploit her finances.
