Peter Salasya, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mumias East, has criticized celebrity Diana Marua for making a contentious joke about her math teacher.
Salasia criticized Diana for flaunting her wealth and disparaging her old math teachers.
“Nimeona video ingine imekua ikitrend ati anaonyesha bungalow ati mwalimu wa maths ulisema sijui nini nini. Let me tell you guys, for those people who are insulting, me I used to teach mathematics.
“Mimi English mimi sijui, Kizungu mimi sijui lakini hesabu I am number one. So I want to tell those people like kina Diana Marua showing the bungalows because that mwalimu wa maths aliwaambia hivi, muachane na walimu wa maths, they are the ones who have mentored you, you are there because of them,”
(I have seen another trending video showing a bungalow and the maths teacher said I don’t know what. Let me tell you, guys, for those people who are insulting me, I used to teach Mathematics. I don’t know English, but Math I am number one. So I want to tell those people like kina Diana Marua showing the bungalows because the maths teacher told them this, leave the maths teachers, they are the ones who have mentored you, and you are there because of them)” Salasya explained.
Salasya defends the math teacher
He asserted that Diana was now richer than her Math teacher since they made sacrifices for her.
Salasya further emphasized that teachers are fortunate and that success always comes to someone in their family.
“By the way, teachers wa primary school na wale ata wa secondary teachers, you are richer than them just because they sacrificed more for the sake of you. That’s why you find out in most cases their families are always blessed by the way. Any teacher, just do your research, ata kama ni generation yake atazaa watoto wasikue successful but kuna mmoja tu mwenye atapitia kwa hiyo familia na ainue hio familia. So let us not insult mwalimu wa maths, in fact, those people are blessed because they have their heart for you, they wanted the best out of you,” Salasya argued.

Diana should leave teachers alone
Any teacher, just do your research, they may raise some kids who will not be successful but there’ll always be one who will shine. So let us not insult ‘mwalimu wa math’. In fact, those people are blessed because they have their heart for you, they wanted the best out of you,)” he added.
The Mumias East MP warned that if tutors’ disdain for them is not curbed, people like Diana Marua and others would force teachers to stop being accountable in the classroom.
“Wakina Marua and the others they will make our teachers not being responsible in classes. Muache hizo vitu. Walimu waheshimike. Wewe umeona mwalimu wako wa primary sasa wewe umeona ati uko mbali, respect that person he is your foundation. Ati mwalimu wa maths ulisema nini!”
(Diana Marua and the others will make our teachers not being responsible in classes. Leave those things. Teachers should be respected. You have seen your primary teacher, and now you have seen that you are far away, respect that person he is your foundation. And what did the maths teacher say!) Salasya chided.
