Fresh information is emerging regarding the prime suspect in the heinous murder of Eric Maigo, the Acting Finance Director of Nairobi Hospital, which took place in his Woodley residence last month.
Previously, investigative agencies had classified Anne Adhiambo Akinyi as a minor, estimating her age to be between 15 and 17.
“The suspect who has since been identified as Ann Adhiambo alias Nut, is currently on the run and is believed to be between 15 to 17 years old,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement dated Friday, September 22, 2023.
They also indicated that she had sat for her Kenya Primary Certificate Examinations (KCPE) at an approved school in Dagoretti between 2021 and 2022.
However, it has now been revealed that Akinyi is not a minor but rather an adult of sound mind, deemed capable of standing trial. This determination was based on an age and mental assessment conducted at Mathari Hospital in Nairobi.
“According to the detectives, Anne Adhiambo Akinyi’s age is between 20 and 21 years. A report from Mathari Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital showed that Akinyi was an adult and had a sound mind thus fit to stand trial,” as reported by Citizen TV.

Maigo’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood on September 15, bearing 25 stab wounds. However, the motive of the Murder is not yet clear.
She had been captured scaling perimeter walls in CCTV footage retrieved by crime scene detectives close to the scene of the murder, prompting detectives to launch a manhunt across the city.
