Rigathi Gachagua: We deserve better as a nation

Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has said that Kenyans deserve better from the government.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday 7, 2025 Gachagua mentioned some of the injustices Kenyans are facing, including sponsored violence, battered economy, corruption, dysfunctional educational systems and ineffective healthcare systems.

The former DP made the remarks, a day after he was attacked at Kasarani PCEA Church, when hired goons attempted to disrupt the church service.

Gachagua also accused President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja of orchestrating the chaos, warning them of reaping what they sowed.

At the same time, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka condemned the attack on Gachagua, terming it a national shame.

Kalonzo questioned why anyone would take violence to a place of worship.

“The attack on Second Deputy President Rigathi at Kasarani PCEA Church, Mwiki was a national shame. We call out these militia as workers of inequity and servants of the devil. Why would you commit violence in Church?” Kalonzo stated.

Gachagua pointed out that as a country the freedom of speech is suppressed despite it being a right guaranteed by the constitution of Kenya.

He also condemned the abductions and brutal murder of young people who are vocal in keeping the government on check.

“Our nation cannot shut under oligarchy, we must listen to Kenyan people and do so deliberately,” Gachagua noted.

Meanwhile, the former DP is expected to address the nation this evening to expound more on the same.
