The Rotary Club of Nairobi Peponi (RCNP) marked a century of service in Africa by donating 100 desks with benches to a local school, on this years Valentine’s Day making it extra special for the children of Githurai, as the spirit of love and generosity was in full display. Making the occasion not just about love, but also about empowerment and education.
As part of their commitment to supporting local small-scale producers, the club ensured that all 100 sets were sourced locally and delivered in record time without compromising on quality. Each set consists of a varnished wooden desk featuring three lockable sections, paired with a sturdy three-seater wooden bench, all mounted on a sleek black steel frame.
The heartwarming event was graced by distinguished representatives from RCNP, including President Dr. Shruti, incoming President Anish, Secretary George, as well as a team of Rotaractors and private sponsors. The school’s teachers, principal, and even a representative from the Teachers Service Commission were also present to witness the transformative donation.
But the true highlight of the day was the joy radiating from the young learners. Their enthusiasm was contagious as they sang songs of gratitude, their beaming smiles proof of how much this gesture meant to them. With these new desks, they now have a more comfortable and conducive learning environment, setting them up for a brighter future.
This initiative underscores RCNP’s dedication to service and community development. By investing in education and local enterprise, the club continues to make a meaningful impact, proving that love isn’t just about words—it’s about actions that leave a lasting legacy.
With 100 years of service in Africa and counting, the Rotary Club of Nairobi Peponi has once again demonstrated that love, when shared with those in need, becomes a powerful force for change.
