Seven people, including a 6-year-old girl, were on Saturday, August 19 killed while 144 others were seriously injured when a Russian missile struck a theatre in a Ukrainian city.

According to Ukrainian officials, the Russian missile hit a central square in the northern city of Chernihiv.

The strike coincided with the Orthodox holiday of the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

The aftermath of the attack saw debris scattered across a square in front of the targetted theatre and surrounding buildings, with vehicles damaged too.
