President William Ruto on Tuesday January 21, 2025 continued with his development tour of Western Kenya, after chairing a cabinet meeting at Kakamega State Lodge.
The president granted a Ksh150 million incentive to sugarcane farmers linked to Mumias Sugar Company, marking a historic boost for the region’s sugarcane industry.
After the cabinet meeting, Ruto will launch the last-mile electricity project in Shinyalu Constituency.
This tour, his most significant in the region since the UDA party merged with Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC, has seen mixed reactions from local leaders.
However, most residents have pledged to support President Ruto for the sake of development and unity.
“Kenya has no room for leaders who seek to divide us along tribal lines,” said Ruto.
Ruto’s Western Kenya itinerary includes launching the Lower Nzoia Water project in Busia on Wednesday and inspecting the Luanda Market in Vihiga County.
He will also visit Aseka Hospital in Kakamega.
On Thursday, the Head of State will check the Alupe dam project and commission electricity connectivity at Nambale Junction before heading to Bungoma for the Kimilili and Webuye projects.
The tour will conclude on Friday with inspections of selected markets in Bungoma and Busia counties.
