Ruto will be a one term president, says Senator Sifuna

Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna has declared that President William Ruto will be a one term president.

Speaking during an event on February 12, 2024, Sifuna, who is also the ODM secretary general maintained that Ruto is going to lose in the 2027 presidential elections.

“I have no doubt in my mind, Ruto is going to be a one term president, I can assure you,” said Sifuna.

According to Sifuna, Kenyan voters made a terrible experiment in the August 2022 general elections.

“The people of Kenya are going to put a stop to this terrible experiment, they got themselves into in 2022.

“This is because all Kenyans can confirm that the Kenya Kwanza government has failed to take care of the needs of all citizens,” noted Sifuna.

The ODM secretary general added that even some leaders in Ruto’s government agree that they have failed on their mandates.

“For example in Central Kenya, you will hear them say they want to substitute Rigathi Gachagua with Ndindi Nyoro or governor Anne Waiguru, only one year after the 2022 elections, which is a sign of failure,” he claimed.

At the same time, Sifuna emphasized the need to expand the IEBC selection panel to 9 members to ensure fairness in picking of IEBC commissioners.

He maintained that with well vetted IEBC commissioners, Azimio is going to win the 2027 presidential elections.

In addition, he advised National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi to ensure the national dialogue committee recommendation on reconstituting IEBC is implemented to ensure fairness in future elections.

Sifuna added that he was ready to work with Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang and other Azimio Senators to ensure recommendation on IEBC reconstitution is implemented.

This was after the national dialogue committee in November 2023 released a report recommending the establishment of an expanded IEBC selection panel from the current 7 to a 9-member selection panel.

President William Ruto had already picked the 7-member panel to select IEBC commissioners.
