The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) believes in the youth, this is according to Japheth Nyakundi, the party’s Treasurer.
Speaking during the UDA Comrades Chapter – Western Edition in Kakamega on Saturday, November 9, Nyakundi said that the party gives every person — regardless of gender, age, or tribe — an equal opportunity.
“Personally I was elected at 32 years old, now about to get to 35. I would like to tell you that the UDA Party gives an opportunity for each and everyone of you,” Nyakundi, who is also the Kitutu Chache North MP, told university and college students who convened at the Bishop Stam Pastoral Centre for the twon hall.
According to the legislator, the party decided to come up with the UDA Comrades Chapter so as to foster a more inclusive and participatory political approach, ensuring that the voices of young people are heard and valued.
“… and that is why the party decided to start the UDA Comrades Chapter and walk within the 47 counties to talk with the young people. We believe that the youth are the leaders of today. I believe most of you will get yourself into the political world or governance through this forum.”
This edition is part of a series of town halls that the ruling party is organising across the country, seeking to establish a robust social-political hustler movement to empower and mobilise Kenyan youth. Other town hall meetings that have been concluded include; Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, Machakos and now Kakamega.
Launched on September 20, 2024, the chapter seeks to establish a robust social-political hustler movement to empower and mobilise youth across the country.
UDA Comrades Chapter is also geared towards creating a platform where university and college students can engage directly with the ruling political party, allowing them to share their concerns, ideas, and aspirations.
