Manchester United have sacked manager Erik Ten Hag following the club’s poor run of results.
Ten Hag’s final game was Sunday, October 27 defeat by West Ham United, a disappointing result that left the Old Trafford outfit 14th in the Premier League, with only three wins from their opening nine games.
Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future,” the club statement reads in part.
Meanwhile, club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.
The 54-year-old Dutch was informed of the decision by the club’s board on Monday morning, a day after the defeat at London Stadium.
United have had a turbulent period ever since legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. The club is now on their sixth [permanent manager since then; David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunar Soljkier, Ralf Rangnick (interim), and now Erik Ten Hag.
