Saboti member of parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has defended the Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o, terming her arrest as a political witch hunt.
In a statement posted on his X account on Tuesday, December 5, Amisi noted that Nyakango is being persecuted for being in the forefront in the fight against corruption.
“Arresting and charging the controller of budget Margaret Nyakang’o is nothing but political persecution.
“She has been at the forefront of fighting corruption that is deeply embedded in both the central government and county government.

“We must celebrate stern astute women leaders and not intimidate them! Kenya needs a Renaissance,” MP Amisi noted.
The Saboti MP added that it was so unfortunate for the government to frustrate Kenyans who are dedicated in their service to the nation.
At the same time, Amisi explained that the Kenya Kwanza government should accept criticism and adjust accordingly, instead of persecuting Kenyans who stand by the truth.

“If you try to warn Kenyans to brace for tough times ahead ,you will find yourself behind bars like the Controller of Budget today.
“Just say Kenya is in the best economic condition ever since Judas Iscariot hanged himself, and no one will touch you,” he stated.
Amisi made the remarks shortly after the Controller of Budget was presented at the Mombasa Law Courts to be charged for operating a Sacco without valid licence and other charges.
This was she was arrested in the morning on Tuesday, December 5, after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions recommended that there was sufficient evidence to charge Nyakang’o and other 10 co-accused persons.
Nyakang’o pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery and conspiracy to defraud.
She was released on a Ksh500,000 bail, as the case was set for hearing on December 13, 2023.
