Sacked AFC Leopards head coach Tom Juma now alleges that the club is being undermined by cartels, who he claims even control player recruitment rather than the coach.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, Juma, who left his position after a 2-0 loss to Gor Mahia in the Mashemeji Derby at Kasarani on Saturday, said the club is being brought to its knees and hampering its chances of competing at a high level.
“This thing called cartels is a big disease eating up and killing this team. I will not expound much on it but they are killing this team for sure,” Juma stated, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Juma had been elevated from his role as team manager to the position of head coach in July 2023, following the departure of Belgian tactician Patrick Aussems.
During his tenure, he oversaw six matches without securing a single victory, managing four draws and suffering two losses, amassing a mere four points out of a possible 18. This performance led to his departure just two months into his role.

The club legend contends that he has merely been used as a scapegoat to mask the issues at the den, but he is determined not to remain silent.
He added, ” There is a committee that was formed to recruit players, something that I have never seen before. As a coach, you need to have a say in the type of players a team is signing because of your style of play and how you would want to fit certain players into your system.”
