Long-standing Safari Sevens partner, Tusker, has proudly reinforced its support by becoming the official alcohol and beverage sponsor for the 2024 Safari Sevens. The partnership was officially announced on September 24, 2024, at the EABL headquarters, where Tusker committed KSh 22 million to help ensure the success of this prestigious tournament.
During the event, Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) Managing Director, Mark Ocitti, expressed his appreciation for the enduring collaboration between Tusker and the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), a partnership that dates back to the inaugural Safari Sevens in 1996. Ocitti emphasized the significance of this relationship in fostering the development of rugby at all levels, saying:
“This relationship is pivotal in nurturing the game from the grassroots level to professional levels.”
Kenya Rugby Union Vice Chairman, Moses Ndale, extended his gratitude to Tusker for their continued backing, while encouraging the brand to explore further partnerships with the union. He noted that the long-standing collaboration has been integral to the growth and development of rugby across the country.
The 2024 Safari Sevens will be held from October 11th to 13th at the Machakos Kenyatta Stadium, marking the first time in the tournament’s history that it will take place outside Nairobi. KRU Director, Harriet Okatch, highlighted the significance of this move, which aims to deliver a fresh experience for fans and players alike while placing Kenya on the global rugby stage.
