Nairobi City County has hired over 40 revenue clerks through a competitive recruitment process.
The newly employed clerks are currently undergoing intensive training to equip them with the skills needed to serve effectively in the county’s customer service center.
Speaking after the training, Nairobi County’s revenue chief officer, Tiras Njoroge, highlighted the importance of the recruitment in achieving the county’s ambitious revenue target of KSh20 billion for the financial year ending June 2025.
“We have been working tirelessly to ensure the new recruits are well-prepared to professionally assist customers and enhance revenue collection. Last financial year, Nairobi collected KSh12.8 billion, the highest since devolution. This year, we are confident of surpassing this record,” Njoroge stated.
The training also emphasized the significance of the Unified Business Permit (UBP), a flagship initiative introduced by Governor Sakaja one year ago.
The UBP consolidates multiple licenses into one, simplifying the process for business owners.
“The UBP has been a game-changer. It eliminates the need to apply for several licenses, saving both time and effort for business owners. This is the approach we are instilling in our new recruits,” Njoroge reiterated.
He also urged Nairobi residents and business owners to take advantage of the streamlined system and ensure timely payment of licenses and land rates.
“As we approach 2025 I encourage everyone to renew their licenses and pay their land rates on time to avoid penalties. to pay for services meet the newly recruited staff in City Hall Annex Customer Service, Dandora offices, Makadara Huduma Center or all our subcounty offices across the county for services or visit nairobiservices,” Njoroge added, echoing Governor Sakaja’s commitment to customer-centric service delivery.
