Salasya to Miguna Miguna: Vie for presidency, I’ll vote for you

National NewsPolitics

Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya is now urging vocal lawyer Miguna Miguna to vie for presidency in the next elections.

Taking to his Facebook page, MP Salasya disclosed that he was impressed by Miguna Miguna’s outright criticism towards the President William Ruto-led administration.

“I have just come to know of one individual in this country. I will respect that man 100%. That man speaks his mind. That man is called Miguna Miguna,” he began.

The first time legislator praised the lawyer for criticizing the current government which he vehemently supported in the run up to the 2022 general elections.

“Today despite the fact that you are a diehard supporter of the current president, you are telling them to stop lying to Kenyans to give them time,” Salasya added.

Impressed by Miguna Miguna

The lawmaker stated that he was so impressed by Miguna Miguna’s remarks on the X (Twitter) platform that he would vote for him if vied for presidency.

“Miguna Miguna you can now be my presidential candidate of choice. You have just gotten one of your supporter here. I want to congratulate you. Keep up the spirit of telling government what they are supposed to do.”

This is not the first time Kenyans have petitioned the lawyer to seek the top electoral post.

In 2021, one Alex Mayore wrote to him, urging him to consider running for presidency in the 2022 presidential polls.

“As you prepared to run for governor of Nairobi earlier after Sonko impeachment, you can follow the same procedure and run for president,” read part of the letter.

Vying for presidency

Miguna Miguna shared a screenshot of the letter on his X page and responded.

“Should Miguna Miguna vie for President in 2022? A solidarity call from a Kenyan Patriot. We are considering these calls,” he commented.

In a interview held in 2012, he told The Star that he would one day vie for presidency.

“I’m not running for presidency next year but I cannot rule out any other time.”
