Samidoh recalls culture shock of spending a night, showering among boys in a boarding school

Mugithi sensation Samidoh (real name Samuel Muchoki) reminisced his days as a sharp student in Nyandarua County.

Taking to his Facebook page, Samidoh stated that he aspired to be a lawyer or doctor although ended up as a policeman-cum-musician.

He shared a copy of the certificate from a science event when he was a student at Ol Joro Orok Secondary School. He emerged position one at a Chemistry talk.

“… I was now torn between becoming a lawyer and a medical man. So this month I emerged from position one in the Nyandarua district science congress chemistry talk category. My Project titled “Soap making and water softening “is a very good project by the way,” he began.

Samidoh spends a night at a boarding school

Owing to his poor economic background, Samidoh could not afford to join a boarding school, and when he got the chance to spend a night at one it was shocking.

“We were to proceed for Provincial level science congress to be held at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls Mathira.

“We didn’t have a school bus so we had to be ferried to Nyandarua High School to spend the night there and use their old bus to ferry us to Nyeri County.“My first and only day in a boarding school,” he narrated.

Culture Shock

Samidoh reportedly felt very uncomfortable taking a shower among other young men as he was not used to the practice, coming from a day school.

“My people, here comes the culture shock of my life, taking a cold shower in front of fellow men bearing in mind the last man that saw my manhood was Mr Nyamu a popular ‘circumcisser” based in Kibera line saba. I stared, I could not Fathom but let me just say God is a creator,” he added.

Despite his academic brilliance, Samidoh joked how the sight of beautiful, eloquent girls from Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls Secondary School ‘affected’ him.

He was lined up to present his science congress project after the girls, which made him forget “this long organic compound formula in my project which I had actually crammed”.

“Let me tell you Maina, it evaporated. And that’s how we earned our 8th position,” the mugithi artist added.
