Schools set for 2025 KSSSA national term one games in Mombasa

The stage is set for the 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games, scheduled to take place in the Coast region from Saturday, April 5, to Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Following thrilling regional competitions, top schools from across Kenya have secured their places in various sports, including rugby, hockey, basketball, and handball. These schools will now battle for national supremacy, with the best teams aiming for a shot at the East African championship.

Rugby 15’s

Defending champions All Saints Embu headline Pool A alongside Coast region winners Serani Boys, Nairobi region champions Upper Hill, and Central region powerhouse Mang’u High. Pool B features Western champions Vihiga High, Rift Valley winners Bwake Boys, Coast region runners-up Marafa Secondary, and Nyanza giants Kisii School.

Hockey Boys

National champions and 2024 FEASSSA winners Musingu High School (Western) will fight for a semifinal slot in Pool B against M-Pesa Foundation Academy (Central), Matiliku (Eastern), and Mnyenzeni Secondary (Coast). Pool A consists of eight-time national champions St. Anthony’s Kitale (Rift Valley), Ringa Boys (Nyanza), Hospital Hill (Nairobi), and St. Charles Lwanga (Coast).

Hockey Girls

Rift Valley champions and 2024 FEASSSA winners St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale will compete in Pool A alongside St. Charles Lwanga (Coast), AIC Nyayo (Eastern), and Nairobi champions Mwiki Girls. Pool B features defending national champions Tigoi Girls (Western), Ng’iya Girls (Nyanza), M-Pesa Academy (Central), and St. John’s Kaloleni (Coast).

Basketball Boys

Pool A consists of Dr. Aggrey (Coast), Pioneer School (Central), Dagoretti High (Nairobi), and Friends School Kamusinga (Western). Pool B includes Lukenya School (Eastern), Laiser Hill (Rift Valley), Sawagongo Boys (Nyanza), and North Eastern representatives.

Basketball Girls

Pool A features Ikutha Girls (Eastern), Kaya Tiwi (Coast), Olympic Secondary (Nairobi), and North Eastern. Pool B includes M-Pesa Academy (Central), St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), Asumbi Girls (Nyanza), and Butere Girls (Western).

Handball Boys

Pool A includes North Eastern, Manyatta Boys (Nyanza), Highway Secondary (Nairobi), and Matiliku Boys (Eastern). Pool B comprises St. Luke’s Kimilili Boys (Western), Makuyu Boys (Central), Jaribuni Secondary (Coast), and St. Albert Kamito (Rift Valley).

Handball Girls

Pool A includes North Eastern, Moi Girls Kamusinga (Western), Kyeni Girls (Eastern), and Dagoretti Mixed (Nairobi). Pool B features Thika Girls Karibaribi (Central), Kadika (Nyanza), St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), and Moi Forces Academy Mombasa (Coast).

With all teams preparing intensively, the competition promises to be intense, as schools aim to claim the national titles and book their spots at the East Africa games. The games will showcase Kenya’s top young talent, with many students hoping to attract scouts and secure opportunities in sports beyond secondary school. The excitement is building as the countdown to April 5 begins.
