Section of Thika Super Highway closed off temporarily due to floods

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced temporary closure of certain roads within Nairobi and Kiambu counties following floods.

In a statement on social media, KURA noted that Entreprise Road, Eastern bypass and Thika bypass were largely affected by the rains and therefore closed down temporarily.

“The traffic police and our technical team are on the ground to direct traffic and enhance the safety of Motorists,” read part of the statement.

KURA assured Kenyans of timely updates on the unfolding situation, and cautioned motorists and pedestrians against crossing flooded sections.

This comes as Kenyans shared images and videos of flooded roads along Thika Road and Kitengela which were largely affected by overnight rains.

Meanwhile, government is on a strict timeline- 48 hours- to relocate residents of Mai Mahiu who are at the risk of being swept by floods and those who were displaced by floods on Sunday evening.
