The selection panel for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially begun interviews for the position of Chairperson at the College of Insurance in South C, Nairobi.
The process, which will run until March 26, 2025, aims to ensure a transparent and merit-based selection as required by the Public Appointments Act.
The first candidate to face the panel was Abdulqadir Lorot H. Ramadhan, currently serving as Chief Magistrate at the Naivasha Law Courts. He is to be followed by Anne Amadi, Charles Ayako Nyachae and Edward Katama Ngeywa, all of whom are to be interviewed on the opening day.
The selection panel is also set to interview Elias Mokua, Festus Litiku Kithinji, Fredrick Odhiambo Apopa, Justus Nyang’aya, Lucy Waithera Ndung’u, Mohamed Nyaoga and Samuel Kobia in the coming days.
The rigorous vetting process is expected to ensure that the most competent and suitable candidate is chosen to lead the electoral body.
With Kenya preparing for future elections, the IEBC Chairperson role is critical in overseeing the country’s electoral processes, restoring public confidence and implementing necessary electoral reforms.
The selection panel has emphasized that the recruitment will be fair, transparent and based on integrity.
Once interviews are completed on March 26, the panel will forward the names of the most qualified candidates to the appointing authority for further consideration.
