“Selfish ones” – Prof. Makau Mutua slams Martha Karua and other Kamwene leaders

Azimio Spokesperson Prof. Makau Mutua has launched a scathing attack on a section of coalition leaders from the Mt Kenya region who have formed the ‘Kamwene Leadership Forum’.

Prof. Mutua says that by forming ‘Kamwene’, which some Kenyans and political pundits have described as a splinter group from Azimio, the said leaders have exhibited their selfishness.

KAMWENE means the “selfish ones.” Or “mine” and “mine alone.” That’s how you RETARD an African post-colonial state. Can salvation come from the primeval?” Prof. Mutua posed on X, formerly Twitter.

His sentients come a day after the co-founders of the group, led by Martha Karua, held deliberations ahead of their much awaited declaration on the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

“Tea with Kamwene leaders,” the Narc Kenya Party leader captioned her photo with the leaders after the meeting on Monday, December 4 evening.

Kamwene leaders pause for a photo after the meeting at an undisclosed location in Nairobi on Monday, December 4 evening. The leaders included Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former governors Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia) and Peter Munya (Meru), and university don Gitile Naituli.

Although many have interpreted that the formation of a new political movement points to a possible differences and eventual fallout within Azimio coalition, they have been quick to dismiss the claims.

“Right now, we are not talking about the race but about the unity of Mt Kenya people. Kalonzo Musyoka is our brother. We are in Azimio to stay but we still have Kamwene Caucus to caucus about Mt Kenya issues,” Karua told journalists back in October this year.
