Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale’s bull dedicated for fighting has killed a shamba boy at his home in Malinya, Ikolomani constituency.
The 47-year-old Kizito Moi, a caretaker at the Senator’s home was killed by the bull according to a video that circulated on social media on Sunday January 28.
The incident attracted the attention of officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who interrogated Khalwale about the death of his employee.
“It was an accident, the victim was carrying busaa, and when the bull saw him, it ran towards him, mistaking busaa for molasses.
“Then accidentally the bull pierced him with the horns on the neck, killing him on the spot,” Khalwale told DCI officers.

Meanwhile, the family of the victim has accepted that Kizito was killed in an accidental encounter with the bull at the Senator’s home.
According to Khalwale, the victim has been taking care of the bull for the last 5 years. The Kakamega senator added that Kizito was one of his most trusted employees for the past 24 years.
The incident comes barely a month after Khalwale announced on December 19, 2023 that his bull had won the bull fighting competition in Shinyalu.
Khalwale, who is known for his love for bull fighting, has been always in the forefront in organizing such events in Kakamega County and beyond.
