If you don’t change, it will not be easy, embattled Kiambu governor warned

Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa has waded into the debate of the county leadership wrangles after MCAs threatened to impeach Governor Kimani Wamatangi.

Senator Thang’wa says that Governor Wamatangi must change his leadership style if he is to survive.

“If he [the governor] doesn’t change, it is not going to be easy,” he says.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi. He is at crossbars with MCAs, who are now threatening to impeach him if he does not change his way. They are accusing him of incompetence.

Thang’wa says that efforts have been put in place to resolve the leadership wrangles between MCAs and the governor, but he has frustrated them.

“We started the mediation with the MPs of Kiambu and the Governor, but it did not work,

“I asked the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to invite us with the governor so that we could talk,

“When he comes to the meeting, he discusses irrelevant things including how he was removed from WhatsApp groups, not issues that are affecting the people of Kiambu,

“Even after we discussed he did not heed the call to work with the people,” Senator Thang’wah claims.

The senator adds: “The president even read him a riot act. The president told him ‘You came to this party very late and if you cannot work towards the manifesto of Kenya Kwanza, then you are not part of us.’

Although the senator says that he does not approve of the removal of Governor Wamatangi at the moment, he implored the county boss to style up.

“The time is now for him to change tact. I will not in any case approve his removal for now, but he must change to work for the people.”

The MCAs are accusing Governor Wamatangi of incompetence, poor leadership, and inability to oversee county development.

According to the MCAs, Kiambu residents voted them in to legislate, oversight, and represent them in the county assembly, insisting that the county boss should respect that.
