Several passengers have been injured after a Guardian bus that was heading to Kisii was involved in an accident along Kaplong road on Sunday morning.
The bus which was coming from Nairobi veered off the road after the driver attempted to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming lorry.
The driver lost control in the process causing the bus to veer off the road and land in a ditch. Several passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Passengers who escaped with minor injuries remained at the scene, awaiting alternative transport to continue their journey.
Those injured were taken to St Clare Nursing Home, however, some passengers with serious injuries were transferred to Tenwek Hospital in Bomet County, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The stretch between Kaplong and Nyamarambe has been notorious for frequent road accidents over the years.
