A Nairobi-bound bus overturned on Mombasa Road at Gateway Mall, resulting in multiple injuries.

A front-seat passenger reported that the driver lost focus while searching for a cloth beneath his seat to clear the windshield in the foggy weather, leading to a loss of control.

“I warned him he was veering off the road and about to crash, but it was too late. He tried to steer back onto the road, but the bus toppled over,” the passenger said.

The bus, fully packed, was traveling from Mlolongo to Nairobi. The passenger suffered a bleeding left hand due to the impact of the driver and another front-seat passenger falling on him.

Footage shared online shows first responders helping the injured passengers while others tried to switch off the still-running engine.

“Where is this car from? It can’t go off,” one bystander is heard saying in the video.

A crowd gathered at the accident scene also helped prevent theft and vandalism.
