Several people are still missing from a landslide which occurred in Kimende, Kiambu County on Tuesday evening.
According to Kenya Red Cross, the landslide occurred at around 9pm, leaving a number of people trapped.
“Although no fatalities have been confirmed, several people remain unaccounted for,” read part of their statement.
The area has since been closed off as a danger zone as government in collaboration with Kenya Red Cross step up efforts to search for the missing persons.
This comes as Kenya meterological department predicted heavy rainfall in the Central Highlands, western and Rift Valley from Tuesday, May 14 to Monday May 20.
In the weekly weather forecast, Kenya Met warned of extremely high levels of rainfall within certain areas in the Central region. As a result, mudslides and landslides would be imminent in prone areas.
