The Social Health Authority (SHA) has officially announced eight high-level job openings as part of its efforts to boost institutional capacity and enhance service delivery across the country.
In a public notice published on Thursday, April 24, SHA called on “visionary, result-driven and experienced professionals” to apply for the vacant positions. The openings include Deputy Directors in Human Resource Management and Development, Administration, Corporate Communication and Finance and Accounts. The authority is also seeking two Assistant Directors for Legal Services and two more for Claims and Case Management.
“The Authority remains committed to integrity, professionalism and excellence in public service,” read the notice in part. “These positions are critical to realizing SHA’s mission of providing financial risk protection and promoting equitable access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans.”
Job descriptions and application guidelines are available on the SHA recruitment portal at https://recruitment.sha.go.ke.
Applicants must comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution, which includes presenting valid certificates of Good Conduct, tax compliance and clearances from HELB, EACC and a recognized Credit Reference Bureau.
Candidates are required to submit a comprehensive application package, including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, academic and professional certificates and contacts of at least three professional referees.
Applications should be addressed to the Chairperson, Social Health Authority, and may be submitted online or delivered physically to SHA’s offices on Ragati Road, Nairobi.
The deadline for submission is May 1, 2025.
This announcement comes just days after the Ministry of Health disowned a separate job advert that had circulated widely, claiming SHA was recruiting for 28 positions. In a strongly worded statement released Sunday, the Ministry dismissed the previous notice as “fake,” clarifying that SHA had not sanctioned it.
“This current advertisement is the only legitimate call for applications from the Social Health Authority,” an SHA official confirmed in a phone interview. “We urge the public to be vigilant and verify information through official government channels.”
The recruitment marks a strategic move by the recently established Authority as it seeks to operationalize key functions and fulfill its mandate under Kenya’s new universal health coverage framework.
With mounting public interest and the high-profile nature of the posts, competition is expected to be stiff. However, SHA assures all applicants of a transparent and merit-based selection process.
