Kenyan Premier League side Shabana FC has appointed retired Kenya international Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo as their new head coach.
In a statement dated Wednesday, January 10, 2024, and signed by club secretary Elizaphan Kerama, the club announced that Pamzo’s appointment takes effect immediately.
“It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo as the Head Coach of Shabana FC, effective today, January 10th, 2024,” the statement reads.
Pamzo is a former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars defender who has previously coached several clubs, including Kenya Police FC, Posta Rangers, and Gor Mahia.
Shabana hopes that the appointment of the tactician will bring a change in their fortunes as they participate in the Kenyan topflight for the first time in 17 years.
“Sammy Omollo brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and a proven track record in the realm of football coaching. We extend our best wishes to Sammy Omollo in this new role and anticipate a successful tenure,” the club added.

Shabana are second from the bottom on the 18-team log. They have managed 14 points from 17 rounds and recorded nine losses.
Their last game was on Saturday, January 6 at home to Muhoroni Youth which they lost 1-0 at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay and they are next in action on Sunday, January 14 against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.
Oscar Kambona has been leading Shabana as head coach on an interim basis since November 2023 after the club parted ways with head coach Sammy Okoth following a series of poor results.
