The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi branch Rapid Action Team (RAT) on Thursday, October 16 nabbed a fake Advocate of the High Court days after the arrest of Brian Mwenda, also a fake lawyer.
Sharon Atieno Adunya alias Sharon Atieno Adunya Obade was apprehended at an eatery by Capitol Hill police officers.
LSK President Eric Theuri was also present during the arrest.
“The said quack had stolen the identity of one Sharon Atieno Obade of P105/14694/18 which she used to carry on and represent herself in court and in her daily duties,” read a report by LSK.
“Further, she forged a National Identity Card and a Practising Certificate to affix the real Sharon Atieno Obade’s identity, which she used to run the law firm of Auma & Co. Advocates (Maddona House, 1st Floor, Left Wing Room 113)as a partner, pretending to be an Advocate.”
According to LSK, Sharon Atieno is a lawyer who is currently pursuing her higher diploma at the Kenya School of Law.
“The Branch wishes to reiterate its commitment to ensuring that we safeguard our practice space and keep it free from infiltration by quacks,” ended the statement by LSK.
Brian Mwenda was arrested on October 12 by RAT for allegedly masquerading.
However, Law Society of Kenya (LSK) records indicate that Mwenda is not an advocate and has no license to practice law in Kenya.
He is currently being held at the RAT offices pending further investigations.
His arrest comes barely four months after the LSK nabbed four fake lawyers during a crackdown in Nairobi.
LSK President Eric Theuri noted on May 17, that the four were arrested in offices in Nairobi after the society initiated a crackdown to weed out quacks in the legal profession.

“We have partnered with police and the office of the DPP to ensure all fake lawyers are arrested and charged in court,” Theuri said.
He also advised Kenyans seeking the services of lawyers to visit LSK website to ascertain whether the lawyer is a certified legal practitioner in the country.
