Shock as 4-month-old baby found abandoned in the dead of night

A four-month-old baby girl was found abandoned outside a resident’s home in Marimanti area, Tharaka Nithi County, near Nyangumi Stadium.

How the abandoned baby was discovered

The discovery was made on Wednesday, October 2 night, prompting social welfare officials to take the baby into their care while investigations were initiated by the authorities.

According to the area manager Laurencia Kinoti report, a local resident alerted the authorities after noticing the child left outside her house.

The baby was dressed in light clothing despite the cold weather and had suffered mosquito bites.

“The baby had light clothes and it was cold outside. The baby had been bitten by mosquitoes. I made a report to the OCS and we went to the hospital, where we were told the baby was in stable condition, except for a cough because of exposure to the cold,” Kinoti said, as reported by one of the media.

After making the report to the police boss, the baby was taken to hospital, where doctors said she was stable, though she had a cough from the cold exposure.

Pascalina Kagendo, a local resident, expressed, “The baby has been crying and needs milk and care. We’re uncertain about what will happen as we wait for the court’s decision.

Meanwhile, “I want to appeal to mothers not to abandon their children, no matter their situation.”
