Shock has engulfed Rukanga village in Mwea West Sub-County in Kirinyaga County, after a man killed his ex-wife and dumped her body in a sorghum plantation.
The deceased brother, Anthony Muturi, said the suspect known as Moses Macharia called him immediately after killing his sister.
The brother said he called him and said that he had killed the sister and dumped body in sorghum farm in Rukanga village before switching off his phone later.
Muturi said he called his mother and together they were shocked to find the lifeless body of 29-year-old Alice Wanjiku laying in the sorghurm plantation.
Grace Njoki, the mother of the deceased, cried uncontrollably as she could not fathom her daughter being killed while on her way to her saloon shop at Kianjogu shopping centre.
According to Njoki, the two separated two years ago and the deceased had been taking care of their three children. She claims that the suspect has been threatening to kill her, but always denying it after being summoned by the area chief.
Mwea West Sub-County Police Commander Rashid Ali said the suspect might have used a blunt object to kill his ex-wife as she had a very serious deep cut on her face and right hand. “We are looking for him after he ran away after killing his ex wife,” police boss said.
The body was taken to Kibugi Funeral Home in Kutus pending post mortem.
