Shock and grief has engulfed the family of a chairperson of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) candidate after he collapsed and died just when he was about to be interviewed for the job.
Komora Mabudi Jilo was waiting for his turn to face the selection panel at the Public Service Commission offices along Harambee Avenue in Nairobi when he collapsed on Tuesday, March 25.
He was among the nine candidates shortlisted for the job, and among the four that had been scheduled to be interviewed on Tuesday, March 25.
His body was taken to mortuary pending an autopsy, to determined what caused the sudden death.
Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana has sent a message of condolence to the family and friends of Jilo, describing him as a “hard-working man who loved his family and one who had a spirit of always trying to go forward.”
The interviews for the chairperson of NPSC were conducted on Monday and Tuesday.
The candidates shortlisted and interviewed for the position include; Kizito Wangalwa Osore (Busia), Doreen Nkatha Muthaura (Isiolo), Micah Pkopus Powon (West Pokot), Humphrey Kimani Njuguna (Murang’a), Susan Khakasa Oyatsi (Kakamega), John Mutegi Muriungi (Tharaka Nithi), Margaret Wanjala Mwachanya (Taita Taveta), and John Otieno Ondego (Kisumu).
The late Jilo was a candidate from Tana River County.
