Police in Likoni, Mombasa County, are investigating an incident where two women was stabbed to death under unclear circumstances in Ujamaa Village.
Sira Bakari Kura, 52, and Binti Omar Kasim, 80, were reportedly attacked by one Ali Abdallah Gatana Kura, a 22-year-old man believed to be their relative.
A report filed at Inuka Police Station on Wednesday, May 29 paints a gory picture of the scene of incident, with blood stains all over the floor of the living room. The two victims were lying there in critical conditions.
Bakari was rushed to Diani Beach Hospital, where doctors believe she succumbed to her injuries before getting to the facility. She had sustained six stab wounds.
Binti Omar, on the other hand, was taken to Likoni Sub-County Hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment. She had three stab wounds.
The bodies of the two deceased have been moved to Coast General Hospital Mortuary, where they will undergo post-mortem examinations.
A joint operation is currently underway to apprehend the suspect who fled the scene immediately after the attack, taking the murder weapon(s) with him.
Officers from Inuka Police Station is handling the case, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Likoni is leading the investigation.
